Meet Laurie Rose De Lima

Laurie Rose De Lima is an author, poet, and advocate whose writing centers on emotional resilience, trauma recovery, and personal transformation. Working professionally in safety, Laurie’s career and creative work are bound together by a simple, powerful desire: to help others navigate life’s hardest terrain and emerge whole.

Laurie first turned to poetry as a teenager in the midst of childhood abandonment, foster care, and living with an alcoholic parent. Though her pen fell silent for many years, she returned to writing in her early 40s following a painful divorce from an abusive marriage. What began as a therapeutic practice to make sense of her past quickly evolved into a powerful tool for community healing.  A pivotal moment occurred when Laurie shared her poem, “It’s Not Abuse,” in a domestic violence support group. Seeing how deeply her words resonated with fellow survivors made her realize that her personal pain held a higher purpose, to show others that they were not alone and that recovery is always possible.

Writing is how I heal, and poetry is how I connect.
